What’s the difference between an iPhone (with no monthly plan) and an iPod Touch?

I’m thinking about buying an iPod Touch for its WiFi capability, but I just heard that iPhones can connect via WiFi too. If that’s true, why don’t I just buy an iPhone without any phone/data plan? That way I have the option of signing up for a plan in the future.
Any thoughts? Pros/cons of iTouch vs. iPhone?

well an iphone is a phone aswell as an mp3, whereas a touch is just a mp3 .. so based on that you would be better buying an iphone .. however aren’t they like ridicusly expenisive even without a contract?

Its pretty much the same but the iphone will cost you a lot more without a phone plan then an itouch (the advertised price of an iphone is with a 2 year AT&T plan). So if you don’t want a phone/data plan now, I would advice you buy the itouch

the difference is the iphone has a camera and calling. the ipod touch has calling but you have to buy a mirco phone for it … other then that i think theres no difference in the long run the ipod touch can alomost do everything without the monthly fee’s and expenses , it much more worth it. [ but you need wi-fi alot with the ipod touch for many of the apps and features ]
